 Copyright and Fair Use 

Copyright is a type of legal protection that gives someone exclusive right to creative work. Fair use allows materials to be copied or used from copywriter materials if it is for nonprofit educational purposes. If the user can use it depends on just on how it is used (it can't be to make money and must be for educational purposes) but it also depends on how much of the copywriter material is being used. As a teacher, I believe that it would be a good idea to assume that every source is copyrighted and include the appropriate citations with it. This is also a very important concept to teach to students, ensuring that students know how to protect their own creative works and how to not endings on the copywriter of other people's works. 
 

Technology Implementation Issues 

As students use other people’s works as sources in their own academic endeavors, it is very important to teach students how to ensure that they are not copying others’ works as their own. This should be a well-covered topic by teachers ensuring that their students know why academic honesty is important, the consequences of dishonesty, and how to avoid Academic dishonesty. That includes how to use works to summarize concepts in their own words and how to use citations to cite use of those works within their own academic materials. 

additionally, because cyber bullying is such a prevalent and pressing issue, it is incredibly important to address this as teachers. Educators should make the consequences of cyber bullying (both for the bullied and the bully) very clear. They should also teach netiquette, or online etiquette, and the importance of being respectful to others online and how to avoid both cyberbullies and cyberbullying others. 

 

Newsletter Design Skills 

While working on the newsletter assignment, I learned how to apply the graphic design concepts that I had learned before to word, and how to manipulate word into the look that I want. I was also able to learn more about the functions of words that I was less familiar with but were very helpful in creating an aesthetically pleasing newsletter. I believe that I can improve these skills by studying more about the tools of word and how they can be used for graphic design. I think it would also be beneficial to read more about how to write news-type stories. How can I use these skills in my future career: Being able to “market” something or share information in an aesthetically pleasing and interesting is something that is very useful in any career, therefor the skills that this newsletter requires will help in sharing information in my future career. 

 

 Newsletter
