Standard one of the ELA technology standards in Communication and Collaboration. Through this standard, teachers show students how to work together and share information using digital and online tools. This includes online searches using keywords, exchanging information online, using online technology to problem-sole, and receive feedback on their progress with this standard. As a digital native, I am familiar with the use of online communication and information gathering, so I believe this skill will put me in a good position to teach this standard.

For fifth grade world languages, interpretive listening is a tool used to teach world languages. For this tool teachers use gestures, actions, and images to teach students words and phrases and how to apply them to their own lived and experiences and to understand the world around them in the target language. To do this, teachers must use culturally appropriate materials in the target language. Through these materials, students will listen and try to interpret the information and learn more about the target language and culture.

Because the internet is the key to a world full of information, it is incredibly important as an educator to be proficient in search tools. One you learn how to use search engines and their tools for finding information, the amount of information that you are able to learn from that is massive. I had not learned how to do Google’s advanced search before, which I believe will be very helpful. With that, I will be able to find information that I am specifically looking for more easily and therefore spend less time researching an more time using the information.
