Blog Journal #7
Teacher Pages
The first section of the teacher’s website, Ms. Christie at Chiles High School, was a bio about her and why she chose what she teaches. She also includes her email address, phone number, and the degrees and certifications that she has earned that relate to her teaching. The second section of her website includes helpful links and documents such as the form to sign up for her class or skip a section of it to get to a more advanced level. The final sections include the links to parent letters and class contracts required at the start of the course.
Technology for Professional Responsibilities
One of the main uses of technology in my professional career will be for communication and inter connectivity. This is incredibly important for professional jobs and there are many applications to accomplish this, such as Microsoft Teams, Email, and Google Meets of Classroom. Another incredibly useful tool for the classroom is Canvas, because it allows teachers to give students access to materials and information in a very organized and functional way. Teachers can also use Microsoft Teams or other video communication applications to stay in touch with parents.
Wikis
Wikis can be extremely useful tools for finding information for students but they can come with some risk. One of the problems with them is their reliability of information because it is open source and not verified, which means it can have misleading or incorrect information. However, wikis such as Wikipedia can be great places for students to start their research because it gives students a lot of relevant information about a subject so they know what they should research and can look for more reputable sources that have that information in it, and can use the works cited to find more sources (if they’re reliable). This means students can use wikis as a launchpad for their research, as long as they know how to properly use them and verify the info
