 Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction 

Working on Assignment 5, I learned how to embed links within PowerPoint to outside and inside destinations. I liked the assignment because I think you can do a lot of things with that feature. However, I think that the number of slides required was a little excessive and it was difficult to meet that number. Next time, I think I could work on making it more visually pleasing and make it look more like a fun game. 

 

Data Collection 

I think one very important use of data collection that I could do in the future is to see if all my students have the necessary resources for assignments. This could be asking them if they have a working computer at home, access to Wi-Fi, or access to word processing software. Another way that I could use it is to help track student’s progress so if anyone starts to fall behind in class, I can help them get to the class level, so they aren’t left behind. Both could work for any grade level, but for 8th grade French, this could include small, frequent quizzes (that don’t necessarily have to count for a grade) to make sure students are learning and understanding the materials. 

 

Online Courses 

I think that it can be very difficult to collaborate with other students in an online course. This is especially because there is no physical meeting of students and because it’s asynchronous everyone likely does class work at different times. I think one way to ease these difficulties is by having students take a class survey that would allow you to pair them together whose schedule and work styles best fit. I could also remain mindful about how easy it is to complete the assignment online, if people can’t meet up in person, and adapt the assignment accordingly.  

 

Technology-related skill 

The next technology related skill that I would like to learn is game making. This could be computer software or something that allows you to make fun educational games. I think that sometimes games can be the best way to learn because they’re fun and interactive. If it is too difficult to teach the subject through a game, I think it can at least serve as an excellent reinforcement of the knowledge. To achieve this, I can do some research online and see what programs are out there that I could use and learn how to use it.
